Samora is an integrated food company building the physical and digital infrastructure for Africa’s food supply chains. Our current focus is on formalizing the supply chain between farmers and food service businesses in Tanzania.

Through optimized sourcing, processing, value addition and cold-chain logistics, we create reliable market access for farmers and serve as a trusted, one-stop procurement partner for food businesses such as hotels, restaurants and caterers.

Today, we source from over 2,000 farmers and serve more than 150 food businesses across Tanzania, driving a more efficient, resilient and inclusive food system.

Sam Killewo, Director

Sam is a Tanzanian business leader with deep expertise in agriculture, investment, and economic development. Having grown up in Tanzania and been actively involved in crop and livestock production from an early age, he brings first-hand knowledge of the country’s agricultural value chains. Earlier in his career, Sam worked as a consultant at Dalberg Advisors, a leading global strategy and policy advisory firm, where he supported agricultural investments and advised governments, development institutions, and private sector clients across the agriculture, manufacturing, energy, and digital finance sectors. He also contributed to the development of Tanzania’s national agricultural policy. Samuel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Harvard University and is passionate about building resilient agricultural systems that drive inclusive economic growth and sustainable development.

Nii Ashe Bruce, Director

Nii Ashe is an entrepreneur born and raised in Ghana. He is dedicated to transforming Africa’s food systems through innovation, strategic partnerships, and technology. With experience across agribusiness, corporate banking, international development, and technology, he has built businesses that address critical market needs. Before co-founding Samora, he co-founded SellRent Ghana, one of Ghana’s leading real estate service firms. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and Liberal Arts from Ashesi University. He is currently a participant in the Stanford Seed Transformation Program, where he is strengthening Samora’s growth strategy and leadership capabilities.

Rahim Mawji, Director

Rahim has previously worked across energy, consulting, and education globally. He is co-author of an industrial policy book, Tanzania’s Industrialization Journey. Rahim holds a BA in Applied Mathematics from Harvard University and MA from Tsinghua University in China where he was a Schwarzman Scholar. He is from Tanzania and Kenya.

Bryan McCoy, Advisor

Bryan was previously CEO of Yalelo, the leader within Africa’s aquaculture sector, and is currently Founder & CEO of Thrive Residential, focused on affordable housing in Zambia. He led the Yalelo team in building a vertically-integrated company across the production, distribution, and retail of tilapia and aquafeeds in Southern and Eastern Africa, with the purpose of sustainably providing an abundant supply of affordable protein to growing African markets. He was also previously a consultant at Bain & Company and held various roles at Sdemane Farming, Actis, H.I.G. Capital, and TechnoServe. Bryan holds a BA in Economics from Williams College and an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He is originally from the United States but now splits his time primarily between Kenya and Zambia.

Yi Li, Advisor

Yi is the Co-Founder and CEO of FarmWorks, a mission-driven food and agriculture ecosystem builder based in Kenya. FarmWorks is Kenya’s largest domestic distributor of fresh agricultural produce and is also an exporter. Yi was previously a consultant at McKinsey, and she has experience working in the US, China, and Kenya. She holds a BA in Economics from Pomona College.

Mo Haji, Advisor

Mo was a Director at NextEra Energy Partners and was previously co-founder and CEO of Rotan Energy. He has close to two decades of investment experience, and he previously worked at Silver Lake Partners, a global leader in technology private equity investing, where he was a key member of the investment team dealing with all aspects of transaction execution, portfolio management and origination. Before Silver Lake, Mo worked at Morgan Stanley as an investment banking analyst, focused on financial institutions and financial technology companies. He holds a BSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT and an MBA from Harvard Business School. He is from the United States, Somalia, and Kenya.

Maria Shayo, Advisor

Maria was Senior Project Manager at Dalberg Advisors, where she focused on investment and policy advisory. Her work has often involved adopting a gender-lens approach to improve outcomes. Maria has worked closely with businesses to develop their go-to-market strategies and to define and focus on their competitive advantages. She has advised investors and helped to conduct due diligence, and she has collaborated with governments to identify investment opportunities and to support needs. Maria holds a BA in Mathematics & African Studies from Colgate University.

Daniel Glenn, Advisor

Daniel served in the United States military for a decade, acting as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Navy’s elite Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) unit, where he was deployed to Iraq and other hotspots around the globe. He studied International Relations at the United States Naval Academy before earning a MA in Government & Politics from the University of Maryland. He earned his second Master’s in Economics & Business as a Schwarzman Scholar at Tsinghua University in Beijing and his Executive MBA from Wharton. In the private sector, Daniel has acted in a variety of capacities: as a turnaround CEO and CIO of an investment firm, co-founder, venture capitalist, Chief of Staff of GoodLeap, and President at Proper Voltage.

Nancy Kimaro, Advisor

Nancy is the Executive Director at Mega Beverages, a leading Tanzanian enterprise behind household brands such as K-Vant and Asilia. She brings extensive governance and strategic oversight experience, serving on the boards of companies across the energy, real estate, and hospitality sectors. Nancy holds an MS in Business Analytics from Warwick Business School and a BSc in Management Science from the University of Kent. She is from Tanzania and is passionate about building home-grown African brands, applying design thinking to business challenges, and driving values-led leadership.
